E3R is hosting a Round Table with Made in Yorkshire to discuss the issues being faced by manufacturers when recruiting for skills and the ageing workforce. The Round Table event is on Tuesday 3rd October, 1pm-3pm at the Process Manufacturing Centre, Huddersfield and is the first working group meeting where manufacturers from the region come together to tackle issues faced by the industry.
In July MIY members completed a survey which asked manufacturers the current issues the industry faces. An astounding 70% came back and reported the ageing workforce and recruiting for skills were the biggest issues. Working extensively within the manufacturing and engineering industries, E3R has seen first-hand the challenges that businesses face.
To address these issues head-on, E3R and Made in Yorkshire are together hosting a Round Table to discuss these challenges including; Skills for 4IR, Apprenticeship Levy and issues, ageing workforce and succession planning, competition for candidates and how to attract them and how to make manufacturing more attractive.
