The Armed Forces Community are a highly skilled and qualified group of candidates who have been trained to the highest standards. Engineers and technicians from the Armed Forces work with some of the world’s most advanced defence systems, with specialisms in electrical, mechanical, aeronautical, avionics, nuclear, communications and marine engineering, to name a few.

The cross-functional skills and recognised qualifications gained by ex-forces personnel during their time of active service are transferable to many of the engineering sectors E3 Recruitment (E3R) recruits for, including automotive, aviation, chemical-process, and construction.

Next Thursday 7th April, E3R will be attending a Careers Fair for the Armed Forces at Catterick. The event which is being run by E3R partner British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS), takes place at the Catterick Leisure Centre and will be attended by Army personnel who are considering their careers options when they leave.

Catterick is where Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REMEs) are based, and the skills and training an Engineer receives make them the perfect candidate for many of the engineering roles E3R recruits for.

Engineering and Manufacturing continue to face a skills gap and REMEs have the experience needed to fulfil the specifications required for technical civilian roles, with a breadth of aptitude, skills and training that are transferable and could add real value to manufacturing and engineering businesses.

E3R first became a partner of BFRS in 2019 when it first exhibited at a BFRS Careers Fair at Catterick. They support the Armed Forces Community by working with companies across the UK that are looking to hire, re-train, and offer career advice to the Armed Forces Community via National Employment & Careers Fairs, Company Recruitment Days, and online services.

Commenting on the event, E3R Director James Soden commented: “E3R has always supported those who have served and who are currently serving with the Armed Forces. The skills possessed by ex-forces candidates are a match for skill shortages that our manufacturing and engineering clients face today. It is always great to attend Careers Fairs at Catterick and introduce armed forces attendees to the career opportunities available to them throughout the sectors we serve.”
